Pergamano® Supplies
We do not carry Pergamano supplies anymore,
but continue to support this beautiful artistic process.
For our readers pleasure, we are continuing
 to display samples and instructions.

Ok, Just what is "Pergamano"??

"Pergamano" is the brand name for the large assortment of materials, tools, books and courses for the fascinating hobby "parchment craft". With parchment paper you can create greeting cards, mural decorations, boxes, lampshades, realistic flowers and other decorative works of art.

The paper has a number of special properties which can be fully utilized with the various techniques, such as embossing, perforating and painting.

Steps in creating Pergamano - - the ultimate parchment craft...

The "steps" and photographs listed below were taken from the book "Parchment Craft," creating a thing of beauty".

Here are the "basic techniques".

A mapping pen and tinta ink  are used to trace the pattern.

Tracing

A quick-drying paint is used to paint the cards.

Painting

Dorso crayons are used to apply colour on the back of the parchment paper. The structure of the crayons is such that the color will be spread evenly over the paper, thus changing its color.

Dorsing

Various Pergamano perforating tools can be used to make perforations in the parchment paper. The 4-needle perforating tool for example has four needles which are positioned in a square. For perforating the Felt Embossing Pad or the Perforating Pad Excellent are used.

Perforations

An embossing tool is used to emboss a relief into the parchment paper. This tool is available in different shapes and sizes. A fine stylus for example is used to emboss fine lines. The extra small ball embossing tool is used for very small areas. Since the front of the card has to be raised, the embossing is done on the reverse side of the parchment paper.

Embossing

Special pointed scissors are used to cut the holes made with the perforating tools. With the special cutting techniques (which a tutor will be able to demonstrate), the 4-hole perforations made with the 4-needle perforating tool will be cut into little crosses, in combination with fine embossing, are the hallmark of parchment craft.
